The Fire Comes to the Table

The Apollo Tabletop Fireplace, designed by Wolf Wagner for Carl Mertens, a German company, adds the warm, soft glow of firelight to any room, without the need for a built-in fireplace. The piece, 11 inches wide and 14 inches high, is made of tempered glass and stainless steel. It will not heat the room, but the manufacturer says that it can sit safely on a table or a countertop and that the height of its flame can be regulated. Fueled by bioalcohol, it will burn for up to four hours before it needs to be refilled.
